Why Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC needs to go to the opposition...

"I had apologized, taken responsibility and fully accounted for Mas Selamat's escape." - Wong Kan Seng, Deputy Prime Minister (Straits Times 24 April 2011)

1) That, technically, needs to be the one and only reason.
Firstly, "fully accounted" does not equal "being accountable for".
Next, "apologized"?
In 2008, when the global financial crisis hit its peak, many CEOs "apologized, took responsibility and fully accounted for" their respective company's predicament. And they were either forced to resign or fired.
We are not talking about a petty thief here. We are talking about someone labeled as Singapore's MOST WANTED TERRORIST.
But WKS will continue to be protected by his ruling party cronies as long as he is around.

"Mas Selamat is either in Singapore or outside Singapore." - Wong Kan Seng, Minister for Home Affairs (Straits Times 9 May 2009)

2) That should solidify why Bishan - Toa Payoh needs to be taken away from the ex-ruling party.
Several days ago, I went to a birthday party for a 4 year old. When I asked the 4 year old where his father was. The 4 year old replied: "If Daddy is not in the house, then he is outside the house."
That, my friends, is an intelligent answer for a 4 year old. When you are paid millions a year to represent Singaporeans in Home Affairs... that's a whole different story.

3) Dr "Teach less learn more" - Here's YOUR report card.
In the 3 years since you made the "Teach less learn more" speech, the number of supplementary classes kids have to go to seems to have increased. If there is not enough time in one academic year to cover all the topics, maybe, just maybe, the amount you are trying to squeeze into one academic year by way of supplementary classes is just too much??? Possibility?
You obviously are not as in touch as you (and the rest of the ruling party) claim to be with the ground. From a highly reliable source, apparently, grades are "adjustable" in the tertiary system here (my source is not able to comment on the primary and secondary schools so I will not assume) to protect the top students in each course... all that for what? So that the people leading those courses can use those students to represent the success of the course. I believe it is also a measure of performance and therefore linked to bonuses.

And last but not least.
4) Chiam See Tong - He has tamed quite a bit. He was never as ferocious as the late JBJ. But he has slogged, suffered and endured being one of the familiar faces of the opposition. His perseverance is admirable. His determination, understated.
I have a strong feeling Chiam See Tong has a few more tricks left up his sleeve. And I think we will be witnessing one of them come nomination day.
