The constituents of Potong Pasir have suffered for 17 years due to the discrimination by the ruling party. They have shown resilience and have voted Chiam See Tong in time and time again. Personally, I think that is the model constituency. No threats and no pre-election "gifts" have swayed them. Yes, it's hard on them to be outcasted like that, but it's commendable.
I really don't know who Lina Chiam is. I really don't think it matters very much though.
She is commendable too.
I don't think it is easy living in Singapore as the wife of an opposition member. But, there she is, ready to thrust herself into the mix of things. Voting Lina Chiam in is almost like a "buy 1 get 1 free" offer. Everyone has to know that in getting Lina Chiam elected, they also get Chiam See Tong. What is the downside?
I would bet that if the ruling party knew for sure that CST was not going to be running in Potong Pasir, they would have gerrymandered Potong Pasir into a GRC. But, CST did not confirm his intentions and so, Potong Pasir, as the longest standing opposition ward should return to the opposition on polling day... and hopefully, they might have company this time round.

For more then 20 yrs, i have been voting for Mr Chiam, now he move to Toa Payoh GRC and leave us to his wife. How can he betray our trust and consistant support for him through all the hard times...
