Bryna Sim is a tool. Singaporeans who are angered by her irresponsible reporting should boycott The New Paper.
Those are the signs of changing times and how much the playing field has been leveled by the use of the internet.
But that's not what I want to talk about today.
Today, I want to discuss the psychology of GANGS (you may also know them as TRIADS, SECRET SOCIETIES, MAFIA and many other different names I might not have listed).
Gangs exist, primarily for a few reasons.
They provide a false sense of support (either emotionally or physically) for a gang-member.
They provide financial security through activities that the gang partakes in.
They control their gang-members as well as the residents in the areas they operate in by instilling fear.
They (at least the successful ones) have other operatives, like the police and other government officials, working on their side. These people are usually compensated with an addition to their normal income.
They tend to control all activities in the region they operate in.
And last but not least, they don't really care if the residents in the area they operate in like them or not. They rule the area.
Hmmm, did I just describe a gang?
It sounds awfully close to the description of the PAP, doesn't it?
Well, the truth is, at the 2011 General Elections, if you decide to vote in the PAP, you are voting in nothing more than a gang. Not a thug like (which some may choose to disagree with) gang that supports violence, but just a more sophisticated version of a traditional gang.
Here are some examples.
1) Lim Swee Say says he wants to retire. LHL says not unless he says it is okay.
Like in many gangs, you can join but you can't leave.
2) Ministerial salaries.
There is almost no difference in those salaries and the income a gang receives. It is through their activities. Many gang-members sell drugs, women and any other product you can think of because of the income they can potentially receive. Singapore PAP members sell ideas of upgrades, beautiful parks, casinos also for the income they can potentially receive.
3) FEAR.
How is the PAP different from a street gang here? At the Singapore Democratic Party rally on May 2, 2011, one of their speakers was a Vincent Cheng. The Vincent Cheng story is representative of how the PAP is not unlike any other street gang anywhere in the world. Because murdering is a crime, they don't murder you physically. But by throwing you in a cell in some detention center without a trial, they WILL MURDER you emotionally. Slowly but surely.
4) Police and government officials
If you walk around any of the alternative party rallies. You will realize the police presence. What you can't see is the undercover police presence. The number of policemen and women and other government officials present is most likely upward of 200. These are the people the PAP gang uses to intimidate the voters. They are already paid off (either in cash or thru brainwashing) by the PAP gang. If you feel that my statement is untrue, attend a PAP gang rally. The police presence is hardly felt unless they are the bodyguards of the ministers.
5) Lastly, they act like they care, because like a regular street gang, they NEED the residents. But, they really don't. You are just a number. And if the use for you is exhausted, they eliminate you, just like a street gang would. The street gang promises you protection from other gangs that may destroy your community. The PAP gang does the same. But, when you question the gang that controls your street, they kill you. The PAP gang is a little better. They allow you to come meet with them ONCE A WEEK, FOR ABOUT TWO HOURS, air your complains. When you leave, they shut the door and then it's business as usual... selling their wares of economy and GDP growth so that they can be better compensated. But once in every 5 years, unlike a street gang, which does not have this platform, they will lie to you that they are listening to you and that they care for you. And that you count. They forgot to add... you are just a number.
Therefore, my dear voters, just like you have kept Singapore safe by not allowing gangs to flourish. It is time to do your part by not allowing the PAP gang to flourish ANYMORE either. With street gangs, unfortunately, you do not have a say in eliminating them. With the PAP gang, it's different. Come May 7th, 2011, you have a chance to keep them in check.
YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ELIMINATE THEM, BUT YOU CAN KEEP THEM IN CHECK BY KEEPING THEIR NUMBER OF GANG MEMBERS DOWN.
VOTE WISELY. VOTE WITHOUT FEAR. YOUR VOTE IS SECRET.
